
Founders Day 2015
Founders Day 2015. Dear brothers and friends: Our annual Founder’s Day dinner was held April 10 at Spirito’s restaurant. We had 44 attend the event with 6 members representing our own undergraduate RI Beta colony. Thank you to Bruce Tavares as master of ceremony introducing our distinguished guest speaker from the National Fraternity, Kevin Marks Director of housing. Thank you to Kevin for his insight on housing trends of chapters across the country and the information on current events happening at National and in the news lately. The RI Beta Colony reported the current colony stands at 40 with a strong spring rush expecting to add more members to its ranks. Bruce Tavares and his advisor team have been meeting weekly with the colony in sustaining the growth effort needed to re-establish our chapter status with National. If anyone is interested in helping Bruce please reach out to him at tavaresfamily2@verizon.net Thank you to Team Tavares for your efforts and keep up the good work! During the annual AHC meeting of the evening’s festivities, Br. Conti delivered the AHC year in review status update. The AHC has decided to sell 4 Fraternity Circle and build a smaller facility using the concept of a meeting house and not a dormitory. In the mean time we continue to lease 4 Fraternity Circle to Zeta Tau Alpha with a mortgage owed of $700,000. The University continues to develop a Fraternity Circle improvement plan. Thank you all around to the brothers who served on the AHC over the past year. These are very exciting times for RI Beta and the year ahead will continue to bring difficult decisions for the AHC. Elections for the AHC were held and once again I am honored to write this letter on behalf of the new board of directors of our house corporation.
