
2015 Pop Top results
The 2015 Pop Top Open was played at the Beaver River Golf Course in W. Kingston on Saturday, September 12. Once again we had great golfing conditions, sunny skies and temperature in the low 80's. Bill Bowers Sr, RI Beta, started the tournament off by greeting the golfers and ringing the cow bell. Bill positioned himself nicely on the 1st tee and watched contently as the golfers teed off. We had approximately 7 new golfers while some of our usual attendees couldn't tee up this year due to other committments. For the 2nd year in a row, we had new champions. The team of Chris Conti, Joe Hart and Glenn Stratton carded a best ball of -13 to easily out distance the other 5 teams. As Chris stated after the event, "what a team". Closest shot to the pin on the 3rd hole went to Mike Slattery and the longest drive on the 17th hole went to Jon Bailey. Apres golfing and having a few pops at Joe Hart's tailgate, the players enjoyed NY strip steak dinner and desert followed by a raffle. A special thanks to Chris Cobb who donated a dozen golf balls and to Alan Abbey and Rich Gladney who contibuted Pro Shop gift certificates for the raffle. We hope to see more new golfers attend the Pop Top next year and enjoy a day of golfing while re-connecting with past brothers.
